2011 Youth Trap League Members

|
Door County Rod and Gun Club and Gardner Rifle
Club invite Door County youth between 12 and 18 years old
and currently in school to join the newly formed Door County
Youth Trap League. The goals of this program are to teach safe and responsible handling of firearms, provide a supportive team-based environment, using clay target sports as the catalyst and introduce youth to a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Participation in a firearms skills and sportsmanship session will be provided and is required to participate in the league. A $2 sign-up fee includes membership at both clubs for youth trap league activities. Ammunition cost is additional and will be made available for a nominal fee. Firearms will also be made available for use free of charge. Youth Trap League has been postponed until the Spring

1 PULL
Our fall trap leagues were a great success!
We had 20 enthusiastic new women shooters.
Our Thursday night women’s league ran for five weeks.
We closed the women’s season with a great potluck dinner, buddy back-up
shooting and a lot of laughs. Special
thanks to Stan and Roger for all of their time and talent.
Ladies, mark your calendars for your requested spring league beginning
Wednesday, April 7, 2010. This is a
five week league; we will not interfere with the Women’s Golf League.
Hope to see you there and bring a friend.
ROUND
2 PULL
On the youth trap shooting line our spring
league encompassed three gun clubs and had 44 shooters.
The spring league wrapped up with a buddy back-up shoot, a lunch provided
by Fish, Farm & Game, and an awards presentation.
In honor of the late Les Meyer, an avid trap shooter and hunter safety
instructor, the family has graciously donated a perpetual trophy in his honor.
The “Les Meyer Perpetual Youth High Gun Trophy” was awarded to Joey
Bosman of the Gardner Rifle Club with an average of 22.33.
In addition, Joey also received a print donated by Tom and Sue Austad.
Joey’s trophy will be presented at the beginning of the 2010 spring
league and displayed at the Gardner Rifle Club. Chase Mickey also received a
print donated by Austad’s for the longest run and a final score of 24.
All shooters left with a door prize, and a custom made trophy donated by
Joe Riederer and engraved by Jim Wolter of Wolter Engraving.
The Lewis shoot was a payout shoot which also rewarded our young men with
a little cash for their efforts. Many
thanks to all volunteers, buddy back-up shooters and parents.
ROUND
3 PULL
Our fall
league started out with a bang at the Door County Rod & Gun club,
registering 18 shooters, with five new members.
The six week league ran between Gardner Rifle Club and Door County Rod
& Gun Club. The fall league
concluded with a special drawing, with only the youth shooters being eligible.
When “Pheasants Forever” local chapter president Randy Counard became
aware of the newly formed youth trap shooting league, he stuck with their motto
“no child left inside,” and donated a 12 gauge youth Mossberg for one lucky
young man. Joey Maier was the lucky
shooter to receive this wonderful donation.
Joey was presented his gun at Jay’s Guns of Casco by Dennis Counard of
“Pheasants Forever”, Jay Joniaux of Jay’s Guns, and Kim Welch of the Door
County Youth Trap League. High gun
for the fall youth league was newcomer Matt Sorelle with a 22.33 average.
Matt received shells and a sweatshirt from Butch’s Exhaust & Auto
Center.
